The Dress: Introduction

The dress that I have constructed is based on a sample covered at Reconstructing History, called the Shinrone gown due to its discovery in a bog near Shinrone, County Tipperary, Ireland.

While I have taken some liberties with design, the pattern is drafted using the shapes and sketches provided at Reconstructing History, and enlarged to fit. The primary deviation from "historical accuracy" that I've taken is in regards to materials-- this dress was made on a budget, and I was working with materials I had on hand.

Materials Used:

Cotton polyester blend: bodice
Cotton broadcloth: Skirt, sleeves
Lightweight cotton wool: wristband
2-piece eyelets: bodice
Craft lacing: bodice
Cotton thread
